Cody Gatland
“I feel very lucky to work a field where things I do everyday help push the world in a more sustainable direction, and while I know we have a very long way to go in this battle, I hope that the work I get to take part in can be a catalyst for others to make beneficial choices for all of us and the planet we share.”
Experience and Expertise:
Cody Gatland has been working in the field of sustainable residential building for almost 15 years. Primarily involved with LEED for Homes and RESNET HERS protocols, Cody has leveraged the knowledge obtained in those areas to successfully assist clients in reaching their energy efficiency and certification goals, while simultaneously focusing on affordability, comfort and livability. The drive to successfully meet project goals is an integral part Cody’s success individually as well as for Green Insight, LLC.
Cody’s career started far from the world of sustainability, where he worked in the Information Technology field as a tech support and field service technician in the late 90’s, before spending a handful of years working towards a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. These prior endeavors led Cody to shift career paths yet again in the mid-2000’s and land at Paradigm Construction in Albuquerque, NM, where his divergent skill sets were put to use helping with the sustainability goals of large scale custom homes in the Aspen, CO area and with managing residential renovation projects in Albuquerque, NM.
While at Paradigm Construction, Cody learned the design and construction process of highly sustainable, technology rich, single family homes. One of these homes chose to certify under the freshly minted LEED for Homes program. Navigating the early iteration of this program was a challenge well suited to Cody’s meticulous documentation skills and ultimately led Cody down the path to becoming a LEED for Homes Green Rater, a HERS rater and the primary LEED for Homes Quality Assurance Designee for Green Insight. In the mid 2010’s Cody’s persistence led to his becoming partners with the other Green Insight, LLC stakeholders. Since then he’s helped the company to grow into a regional force in the field.
