La Pradera
1023 E Glorietta Dr, Hobbs, NM 88240
Project Details:
Affordable Multifamily housing project (8 multifamily buildings = 60 units, one community building and one daycare building) in Hobbs, NM.
Green Insight’s scope of work included project green goal facilitation, facilitating charrettes, LEED for Homes credit verification and testing during construction, QAD review, energy modeling, building material assessments, review of specifications, construction documents, and project submittals. Modern multistory ICF building designed to meet a HERS index of 59 and obtain the NM Sustainable Building Tax Credit (SBTC).
Challenges:
For La Pradera, the developer wanted to develop a modern-style building that achieved a HERS of 60 or better and LEED certification to achieve the NM Sustainable Building Tax Credit. The biggest challenge was the project being located in a rural setting with a general contractor that didn’t build green and a limited subcontractor base that had been building the same way for a long time.
Solutions:
Building a simple regionally appropriate design building out of ICF blocks with truss roofs (highly insulated envelope) with Variable Refrigerant Flow Heat Pump HVAC System and all ducts in conditioned space. The key to getting under a HERS of 60 was the heat pump water heaters. The only grass in the project was in the Tot Lot Playground otherwise only drought-tolerant noninvasive plants were used.
RESULTS:
Green House Gas Emission Reductions
• Carbon Dioxide (CO2) reduced by 3.8 tons/year
• Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) reduced by 6.9 lbs/yr
• Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) reduced by 17.2 lbs/yr
“I have been building green since I formed Tierra Reality Trust in 1997 and each year with each new project, we have tried to make each project greener than the previous. LEED is a natural extension of our company’s business ethic.”

What our clients are saying
“Green Insight is always available on-site and in real-time. Their ability to turn things around and keep a project on track distinguishes GI from competitors. They are also creative and willing to roll with the punches. In my world, things don’t always work out perfectly but the team at Green Insight is always open to finding creative solutions to figure out the most timely, cost-efficient way to resolve issues.”

Casey Cameron
Project Manager, Pavilion Construction
“Green Insight’s team is responsive, available, and provides a tremendous sense of security. We recently had a project where the goalposts changed quickly and often during the approval process. We were able to get our project approved, but I honestly don’t know how that would have gone if we didn’t have the backup and knowledge that Green Insight provided.”

Chris Beabout
Director of Development, Landmark Homes
“When it comes to green energy consultants, Green Insight takes the stress away like no other. They bring an unbeatable combination of value-engineering, industry knowledge, and out-of-the-box creativity for solutions that work. What I value most about working with Green Insight is the relationship – which is more like a partnership that has been one of the key drivers in our success. They take the stress away. And frankly, this has been the best relationship that I’ve had with somebody in this business.”
