Project Details:
WJ Ranch reinterprets the Aspen housing market by creating a mountain retreat that is sustainable as well as luxurious and was featured in Green Builder Magazine as the “Aspen Vision House 2009”.
Green Insight’s scope of work included working with the contractor to build complex energy models, LEED® for Homes credit verification and testing during construction, building material assessments, review of specifications, construction documents, and project submittals.
Challenges:
Luxury homes have a significant influence on our natural resources, energy, and water usage building these homes green can have a considerable impact on our environment. The size of the home affected not only resource use but also the level of LEED certification.
Solutions:
• Highly insulated envelope with a radiant heating and cooling system with geothermal wells, solar thermal for domestic water heating, 2.5 kW photovoltaic system
• Regionally appropriate green building materials and systems
• An integrated system for tracking gas and electrical consumption was incorporated to allow for ongoing performance monitoring.
